Bucket Rally: Day 3 - DONE!
We get back to our car early in the morning to the realisation our convertible roof mechanism had completely gone, to the point it won't lock in, either up OR down. From a quick glimpse out of the window we decided it was a roof down kind of morning, so set about gaffa taping the boot down so we could get on our way. We set off from Barcelona on less than 5 hours sleep and a man (and woman) down, but this did nothing to dampen our spirits as we headed for Andorra through the Pyrenees.
The roads were mental, my knuckles were white from clutching the steering wheel so tight and my neck seized up after I didn't dare look in any direction other than forward! We just get in to Andorra when the heavens decided to open - did I mention we'd gaffa taped our roof down??
After a quick pitstop at Andorra Circuit to Gaffa tape the roof UP, we continued up through the Pyrenees and into the clouds. We make a stop or two to take in the scenery & as we get out of the car we quickly notice Cav forgot to put the handbreak on as the car, with me still inside, starts rolling back down the mountain!
As we head back down, radioing through to The Calm & The Courteous about where we might be reunited with Jess and Myles, their radio comes in to range - we were close!! Round a hairpin and we see them in the distance in their hire car, which we decide needs a few stickers to complete the route.
Squad complete, on to Bordeaux but not before we have to donate a tyre to a fellow Rustbucketeer in need!
The long motorway journey to Bordeaux was hysterical and we cruised in to Bordeaux just before 9 and in time for dinner, had a few beers and straight to bed for a 5.30am departure this morning to head back to Calais.
On to day 4....
