Rust Bucket Rally: Fourth and final day - DONE
The alarm went off at 5am for a long day ahead on the final stint of the #RBR17. Our itinerary had given us 9 hours to make the ferry but Calais was some 867km away. Panic set in for me at the thought of not having time to stop for lunch and at least one snack, so we sneakily set off an hour earlier than planned so we had some time on our hands.
It was a long old journey, but we made it with enough time to make a little detour and find a McDonald's before catching the ferry - WIN!
Back in the UK, and having to constantly remind myself that we drive on the left (the first roundabout off the ferry was interesting ) we all met up at the services to travel home in convoy for the last hour. It was emosh as we arrived back in Cranford to a crowd of people cheering as we arrived back in style.
We lost a total of 6 rust buckets along the way (2 never even got going) but everyone arrived back together tonight!
Arriving back we'd hit the £25k mark in fundraising for Cransley Hospice which is literally amazing. Huge Huge thank you to Carl Baldry for all the organising you did - the trip was unbelievable..
Also a huge thanks to the squad - Cavan Wardell-Mellows, Jessica Ilenkiw, Myles Reid-Smith, Cerys & Matthew Freemantle who totally made the experience.
p.s not only did Sally make it home, Cav tried the roof one last time and it only worked!!!!
Until next year...
